Party people!

Every semester we have an awesome party, and this semester’s party is going to be no different! Sign up for the Facebook event to know when and where to show up. Unfortunately, there’s no room for better halves… Shine your dancing shoes, bring your own booze and the good humor! Oh, and this year ballroom spray on tan is a requirement for entry.

These two never fail to impress…

Anyway. I´m going to WEST IN LYON

West Coast Swing in conquering the world at a fast pace! Workshop weekends are run all over the world!
We hope you enjoy this fantastic video from Lyon France: We all have our different motivations and inspirations!

Sea Sun and Swing

Sea Sun and Swing is a (ridiculously awesome) WCS workshop in Montpellier in Southern France. It takes place at the end of July and beginning of August. I (Hrafnkell) am currently investigating whether week 1 or week 2 is a better option since I won’t be able to go for two weeks. I think week 2 will be the better option for me. This is the biggest WCS workshop in Europe and with the most American pros.

I’ve been there once before and the weather is fantastic, the teaching is fantastic, the people are fantastic, etc. I’ve only been to one other event of the same quality and where I’ve enjoyed myself as much. The weekend pass is 210 euro, I looked at flights to Paris a couple of days ago and saw them ranging from 40.000 isk. to 60.000 isk. The accommodation is not too expensive. So even though it’s not the cheapest summer vacation you can take it’s also not very expensive, and you get a lot of bang for your buck!

Click the link at the beginning of the post for more info. I’d love to get somebody to join me – hopefully we’ll get a group of Icelandic WCS dancers to go! If you’re interested in going, or want more info, drop me a line at hrafnkell.palsson@haskoladansinn.is!

First dance night of the semester

…will be held at Barbara next Thursday, January 12 from 20:30 to 22:00. This semester we’ll host our dance nights once a month at Barbara, the other three times will be at Veislusalir. Looking forward to seeing you all after a nice long Christmas break!
